Overview
A Sick Mind is a 2025 American dark comedy short film written and directed by Alexander Valderrama. The film stars Oscar Garcia, Pedro Lemos, Randy Coleman, and Schundley Samson. It follows a Library Supervisor (Garcia) who deals with the most nefarious adversary he's ever encountered, a public masturbator (Lemos).
Our Process
Pitch
Script readings were held at Miami Dade College North Campus on the week of February 17th, 2025 as part of the Film Production 3 class. After two days of reading submitted scripts, Professor Adrian Garcia chose 6 films to be produced during the semester.
Pre-Production
Pre-production took place from February until April 2025. Director and DP worked together on shot list and storyboard specifically, and DP organized auditions. The following items were prepared: final script, storyboard, call sheets, schedules, location permits, overhead schematics, script breakdown, etc.
Principal Photography
Principal photography took place on April 14th and 15th, 2025. The locations were all on Miami Dade College North Campus. The film was shot using the original BlackMagic URSA camera.
Post-Production
Post-production was completed through Adobe Premiere Pro, and score was composed by Sammy Stolyarov. The film has a 9:29 runtime, including credits.
